Modern banking starts with an intelligent IT infrastructure.
In a rapidly evolving market, anticipating and adapting to technological change is key to our success – that’s why building a world-class technology function is at the heart of our long-term strategy.
At Williams & Glyn, you will work with existing best-in-class architecture but also apply leading-edge technology to build new solutions. This is an opportunity to do things differently from the rest of the financial sector. And to make that happen, we need dedicated IT professionals, ready to rise to the challenges of building and shaping this new bank.
You can expect opportunities to integrate digital innovations with enterprise scale technology platforms – surrounded by some of the best colleagues in the business. We’re not talking about tinkering with legacy systems either; it’s a big project, and we’re channelling significant funding into development – for both our architecture and our people.
We’re well underway in setting up Williams & Glyn, and as part of this there are plenty of vacancies available for dedicated technical professionals from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. So if you’ve a genuine passion for technology, and the desire to make your mark on a different kind of bank, we’re sure to have a role for you.
Migrating systems from RBS to Williams & Glyn isn’t going to happen overnight – it’s a huge undertaking – and there’ll be plenty of unique challenges to take on and learn from along the way. Our Technology Change function will be instrumental in ensuring we establish a DevOps culture and a model of change delivery, and it’s here you could build the skills and relationships that will steer your career. The Team also leads the integration of IT change services, and handles relationships with strategic partners, overseeing cost-optimisation and performance.
As a brand new business, building strong relationships is vital, and our Service Delivery team is there to make sure that happens, right from the start. We’ll look to them to own and drive the performance of the technology services, which will run the bank to meet business and customer requirements. It’s all about understanding our partners and suppliers, while making sure everything we do supports our customers and staff.
Strategy and Architecture
We’ll be working with existing RBS technology – giving us a strong head start as a new business – but we aren’t stopping there. This team will be right at the heart of driving our future IT architecture and strategy, defining innovative ways to go further for our customers. Key responsibilities include setting and managing the IT strategy, evolving the enterprise-level technology architecture, and administering the technology change portfolio.
Data and Analytics
Modern banking is all about gathering and using data the right way. Our data team supports us in analysing data and identifying key trends that allow us to make intelligent strategic decisions, minimising risk and driving value for our customers. They also promote collaboration throughout the business, ensuring that information is always there when it’s needed, and keep us compliant with evolving data management policies, architecture and controls.
In the modern arena, world-class security isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity. Our cutting-edge Security team is there on the front lines, proactively protecting our customers and business from constantly evolving threats. With highly driven expert colleagues, who understand existing and developing cyber technology tools and practices, it’s the perfect place to develop new skills and responsibilities while leading our on-going information security strategy.
The Technology Controls function sets and maintains our risk governance framework, and technology contract controls. It is centred on five sub-functions: Operational and Service Risk, Production Change Controls, Programme and Project Controls, Third Party and Assurance Controls, and Reporting, Framework and Certification.
